Flood Zones
Typically, standard homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage. So, it is important to know the flood zone you are in and carry the proper flood insurance. Duval County is broken down into several different flood zones. The flood zone you live in determines the type of flood insurance, if any, you are required to carry.
If you live in a Flood Zone that begins with the letters A or V, you are required by federal law to carry flood insurance. If you live in Zones B, C, or X, you are not required by law to carry flood insurance, but can still opt to do so, usually at a much lower rate because you are not a high flood risk.
